I think i watched that show as a kid. i have very few memories of my childhood, which is weird really. i actually think i have a crap long term memory over all. anyway i think i watched it and liked it.

i guess there's not enough gore or sex on it for kids.

I was saddened to see that article too (I also have a note to post about it). I have a lot of fond memories of watching Mr Dressup, and the Friendly Giant too, to mention another 70s CBC staple. There was a gentleness to those shows that's hard to find today, though there are a couple that my kids watch that have a similar quality. We've grown too much in love with the quick and the loud.

Nostalgia. Ernie Coombs retired in 1996 and died in 2001. They ran his show for 10 years after he retired. I think that shows amazing respect for the man.
BTW, the shows for kiddies now are great. Poko, Tractor Tom, Clifford The Big Red Dog,to name a few. They are entertaining as well as educational. There's always a lesson learned. No gore, no quick and loud, just great stuff.
Sorry if you miss Mr. D. :)
