Wrecking Ball Interrupted

Toronto's Old City Hall -- city council moved to their new "space ship" quarters in the mid-'60s -- was the largest municipal building in North America when it opened in 1899.

Of much greater interest about the building is the fact that city council had given the green light to demolish it to make room for a twin high-rise office tower as part of the Eaton Centre project. The public went ape shit at that and the idea died and the building lived.

The magnificent building now houses the criminal courts of Ontario Court of Justice and municipal courts. If you've ever seen "Night Court" (TV show) and been in old city hall, the similarities are striking, minus the humour in the latter location.

Well there's a timely post. Developers currently have our residences in their rapacious sights, and are bent on demolishing them.

We are working for the idea to die, and the buildings to live. On verra.

Nightcourt...ha

Wonderland follows and is as good.

Steve, Happy Birthday! Sis Dianne says the same.

You cannot stop writing.

We're in drag years.
At least post your pictures and your thoughts.
They're important.

I insisted Mom bring down a box of pictures that we've come across in the attic a couple of times.

Anyway... we went through the pic's just to put them in order and give faces a name and add a year to them.

Never under estimate your footprint in this world Steven.

You're important. Your stories are important. Your life is important.

Happy Birthday.
