Prash art

Meet Prash, or more accurately, meet some of Prash's artwork. It was a sheer delight to meet Prash, who invited me into his home to view some of his works, and to sip some lovely tea. He was also kind enough to allow me to snap his photograph as part of an exercise for my photo course (taking a picture of a "stranger.") I won't include the photo here -- the Web is intrusive enough without near strangers posting your photograph...

Prash does watercolours and how! I first saw his works in a small studio space out Queen East last summer during one of those Art Walk thingys. Didn't buy then but kept up with his work via his blog -- go here http://www.prashart.blogspot.com/ and when I enquired about some male nudes he invited me over to see some of his latest works. The nude shown here I bought. Incredible, the use of blues to achieve skin colour. Like an idiot I forgot to photograph this work on paper before I had it framed, so it's behind glass and well, that makes getting the exposure right, blah blah...

Prashalso does much else with his pen and watercolours (his sketchbooks are a journey into wonderful) . I post here too a photo of his painting of the Gladstone Hotel, which Prash had just painted the day before and asked if I'd record it with some photo evidence.

His works are lovely. The man oozes spirtuality and simplicity (in the grandest meaning of that) and, clearly loads of talent. He's going to have work showing at Galery 401 soon (later this summer) -- I'll post details when I get them. You can also see (and buy, I would hope!) his works which go on display this weekend (I believe; dang my memory) in the Art Window at Pages bookstore in Toronto.

Prash also briefly played a scimtar like intstrument, for me. It was, I think (dang my memory again, so I went hunting on google) a tanpura used for droning. The instrument and the droning were immediately ancient, somehow. Remarkable sounds. Remarkable.

Thanks Prash for your hospitality and your art!
