Monday Approaches (or The Hostas are Nervous!)

With the weekend ending this profoundly annoying and anger making rain is surely about to clear into a stifling hot and sunny Monday. Stuck inside with the recuperating dog I slipped outside with camera between assholishly long and heavy downpours to capture a snail on a small retaining wall (curb, really) in our courtyard.

We have:

1) A snail veering at the last moment to avoid a precipice
2) A sharp left turn for the thrill of it
3) A snail unfurling from its house after being plucked from another location so as to be in front of someone's camera

oh steve... you make me laugh!
Sitting on the porch one eve I heard a faint scritching sound. It was so regular I thought it must be one of those evil beetles eating my cedar, so I got up and leaned over the rail, closer to the tree...nope.
It was coming from down there. So I sat back down and leaned into my plants. My poor attempt at rooting a geranium in a juice tin placed (I know not why as the tin had no holes in the bottom) on a styrofoam (is this a word??) tray.
There was snail. Making his way towards me.
I felt bad he got stuck on crap man-made material so moved him to the soil.
Still shake my head today thinking about the noise he had made... crcheek, crcheek... very regular.
